Clarks Coaches is a family-owned and operated business that dates back all the way to 1970.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Perry and Maama Clark, Clarks Coachlines’ story has humble beginnings. They were operating out of the family home in Maromaku, a rural community 12km south of Kawakawa in Northland, and it all started with just one school bus.
In those days, it wasn’t common at all to find a young woman behind the wheel of a bus, but Perry went to the Ministry and requested that Maama could get a special licence to drive the buses. The rest, or so they say, is history.
Clarks Coachlines is still a family business. The company, which now has depots in Kawakawa (head office), Kerikeri, Kaikohe and Christchurch, has grown much bigger and Perry still drives our coaches. He is now joined by daughter Tania as company director, and they have more than 100 staff.
Providing New Zealand coach and bus charters for a range of local groups and international tour companies, Clarks Coaches has hosted passengers from all corners of the globe including Europe, Australia, America, Korea, China and Japan.
